Hi everyone, I love bees and fascinated by them, but unfortunately I've developed allergy to bee sting, so I have to give up my hobby.thanks. Aras

Don't give up so easily if you love it Aras. One of my students became allergic and he is now in the middle of a course of desensitisation and hopes to keep bees again soon.

I agree.....there are ways round it!
If you love them that much....find out about getting desensitised....it works, a bee colleague of mine did the whole course and has no problems at all now, in fact he has less reaction than me!

Desensitisation therapy (a course of injections) is available (free) on the NHS for those who do demonstrate a clinical "bad reaction" - testing (quantifying) the reaction is the first step - ask your GP about getting a RAST test.

Desensitisation works. But it requires your commitment for the regular inspections (it may not be done at your local hospital - but it will be somewhere in the area.)
That is, of course, if it is needed.

Thats a shame and also a bad time of year to sell your bees I dont know your level of reaction but you may do better if you overwinter the bees and then sell or give away the bees.

I don't think he has any Tom, seems to me it was just a throw away comment!

He did offer a nuc for sale yesterday Enrico to someone that was looking - £90.

Seemed reasonable to me.

Sorry that it did not work out Aras but as above, there are desensitisation courses you can enrol on and come back a Beek later.

Are you definatly allergic? Have you had an anaphylaxis reaction? If it is just bad swelling that is to be expected to some degree but will eventually lessen the more stings you take over the seasons
