I was made redundant 11 months before my 65th !
guess what , my local d.o.e. had me fixed up with an appointment for a job interview at the local nick The job also had a teaching element
As an ex electrical engineer I enquired , " Do you want me to teach the inmates how to disable burglar alarms?"
I also pointed out that 12 months probation was required in order to join the home office pension scheme! and I didn't have time to qualify .
Meanwhile back at the d.o.e. a gaggle of lady clerks were giggling ,when a young man came limping in ! "why the merriment ?" I asked .
The clerk dealing with me remarked "Oh!, they have a bet as to which leg is his bad one , as he can never remember which leg to drag "
