Today is the day! It's beautiful and sunny, hopefully the bees will be sweet tempered and the foundation not too bendy!
Having a quiet cup of tea then I'll set off...

Depends on the Assessor if you get a friendly one or one one who wants to show you how much he/she knows and what you do not ! I passed a few years ago but it was not a particularly pleasant experience. If you do not do it their way you could be in for a roasting. Good Luck. Thank you Essex Beekeeping Association.

Phew, luckily I had a friendly examiner! It all went smoothly - I learnt a few things, so a positive experience overall.
Now I need to go and take some honey off my hives!

Thanks everyone for the luck and tips.

Good result and well done ;), just out of interest though what do you gain or how do you benefit from doing these tests.

Well done, now we await the results. The answer for me Millet, is knowledge.

And with the knowledge comes more confidence, which leads to a better beekeeping experience, which hopefully leads to better bees. Each year I try something new. This year has been grafting, which has added a whole new dimension and enjoyment to my beekeeping. Still not that good at it, but will keep practicing, each time I learn something new

I'd say that I am a better informed beekeeper as a result. Definitely more on the ball about the signs of specific diseases and life cycles if bees etc
I really enjoy learning new things and this exam has filled in a few holes in my knowledge.
There are a few of us taking the exam this year, so we've been meeting up to discuss various topics - I feel like I've got to know a few more friendly Beekeepers, which is a good thing!

That would definitely make it worth while taking the test, meeting friendly folk and sharing knowledge and ideas would not happen if you where not in that group.;)

Glad your assessment went smoothly and was a good learning experience. Hopefully in due course you can look forward to receiving a certificate and sew on badge. Which will be presented to you or in my case stuffed through the letter box. I wear the badge with pride.

Next step the "modules"

Fingers crossed

I think you need to have kept bees for at least 5 years for the general husbandry.

Not a necessity .. I believe you can do the General Husbandry with out doing any of the modules.. I think the modules are only a necessity if you want the master beekeeper status.

The GH is probably easier if you have done the first few modules.
They are all really interesting. I particularly enjoyed module 2. And tbh module 3 is really useful, mod 1 is an extension of the basic - but needs approaching with caution as it is the one with the biggest failure rate.
Mod 5 was hard but interesting. Module 6 was really interesting again.
Mod 7 is next for me and again really interesting.
I do like reading and studying though.

GH next year.

Anyone else get results today? I passed with a credit (whatever that means) Phew.

I never even got my invite??? No idea if it is yet to be arranged, or if I was missed off. My cheque got cashed though!

Sounds like it's getting a bit late! I would chase that up.
