Morning all
For your information, the annual Gloucestershire Beekeepers Association auction of beekeeping kit, ephemera and bees is to be held on Saturday 10 May at a NEW location.

It is moving from the open air sale site at Hempstead in Gloucester to the Cotswold Riding School for the Disabled, which is behind Cheltenham Racecourse, Prestbury Park, Cheltenham GL50 4SH

The auction starts at 12noon and live bee auction at 3pm, lots can be entered 8am to 11am on the day.

Contact Bernie Danvers on 01594 825063 for general enquiries and lots

See you there :spy:

Just to say that last year's auction was fantastic - well run, hundreds of lots covering nearly all aspects of bee keeping (about the only thing I didn't see was II kit and microscopes ;-)). It was there that I got my first nucleus of bees, so holds a special place in my memory.

The weather was the only downer, so the NEW, UNDERCOVER, LOCATION should be much better. (Last year we had sun, rain, hail, wind in a repeating cycle!)

good auction but now it's further away :(

i picked up a 4 frame extractor last year for £20 so bargains are possible

'good auction but now it's further away :('

Only just, from Bath only another 5 minutes.

Should be a good afternoon, I hope the extra distance doesn't stop you coming.

nope it won't :)

Update ... Will go down in history

A good hundred or more beekeepers descended on the Riding for the Disabled centre at Prestbury, Cheltenham today for the annual GBKA auction.

Most memorable, mid way through the auction was halted and we were informed one of the live bee lots had been found to have American Foulbrood in it, so no live bees could be auctioned and a standstill order was placed on them all.

Will copy this into the health section, but beekeepers in and around Cheltenham need to be on their guard as the affected colony was local, according to one of the organisers.

More later,

S

Wow, how awful.. Who inspected days prior to sale... giving it a bill of health. Isn't that compulsory?
