Are pollen cells filled to the top?

My understanding is that pollen gatherers unload themselves directly into the cells, unlike the nectar gatherers who are unloaded by the house bees who then put it in the cells

I didn't know that, so you've added to my knowledge, Drex ,thank you. Do they put it direct into the cells around the brood then, so that house bees don't have to move it about at all?

Nectar is transferred from one honey stomach to another ( or several) in the house bees, who then transport it to the cells etc.
Pollen is brought into the hive as a lump in the pollen basket. House bees would have to get bits off, pack it in their baskets to transport it. Not very efficient. My understanding that once dumped into the cell, house bees may then rework it to turn it into bee bread. Might be wrong? Raw pollen is not that digestible

If there are multiple nectar sources and you get the plug of pollen's out you can sometimes see distinct layers of different coloured pollen.
Just wondering how many pollen loads per fullish cell?
