Any ideas what these eggs are ?

I have had to remove these things twice now from the side of a crownboard just under a roof.

The yellow is compacted dried pollen,any ideas what is laying them ?

Looks like it may be spider cocoons.

red mason bees put their eggs in a line each cell sealing up the last, in a tube arrangement if you know what I mean - these eggs/cells appear to each be open and waiting to be sealed individually

are they not the potter wasp cells. if they where closer together this would have been my guess. I have found them several times in equipment waiting to be used

I had some of those too the other day, and on wednesday night i went out to collect a swarm, on the way called into an elderly couple who had red mason bees in their garden, i told them to leave them alone.

I watched them for a bit, there were a few coming and going, at the time i did not work out what they were up to, as they kept going into a patch of wet soil, curling themselves up a little then flying away again.

I guess they were after the dirt to seal up their eggs with a mud wall.
