I have found a local bee group and I have been learning from an experienced bee keeper, I've read many books and tomorrow I will recieve my first hive.

I thought I'd use your combined wisdom to see if you have any hints or tips of your own to improve my chances of success.

:thanks:

Enjoy. I think you have done the things that most would advise.

The best advice I can give you is that given to Captain Mainwaring by Corporal Jones.

Where in West Sussex? Our Assoc meeting soon at out apiary, demo'ing shook swarm, clean hive start to the year. Lots of bee chat, question time and advice over tea and cake. PM me if you interested.

When you say hive do you mean the empty box or the colony of bees to go in it?

My advice would be to get a 2nd colony as soon as possible as it allows a little more flexibility.

Also, don't be scared to ask what seems like silly questions. Its not a silly question if YOU don't know the answer. That said, don't take anyone's advice as gospel, only as a rough guide. No one knows your bees like you will and every colony is different.

Finally, ENJOY it...It's a great hobby
