yep, my granfather in the 50's used to burn newspaper in any new box before using it
 
i always find it strange that people change one-third of their brood comb then find a queen cell and do a pagden swarm control

The pagden changes all but one frame of comb, i always recover or fumigate the comb of the new queen box, but just keep the pagden old queen box with it new comb/fumigated comb

the longest my queens last without swarming is two year, so I rely on the pagden to gvei them new comb
