My immediate thought is rats.

My 2nd thought is why are you shoveling snow away from the hive? In snowy conditions it is better to keep them in so turn your efforts around and shovel snow over the entrance.

hi ph
no visible rat damage outside and i thought it better too clear the entrance to the hive of snow,so i just leave it covered then yes?
ive already done the drive and the pavement lol

I would leave it covered, the bees can breathe fine and it stops them making silly flights and getting lost and chilled.
