Morning! It's been wet, windy and cold here in Kernow for the last few days but today is gorgeously sunny. My beehive has gone crazy, the bees are buzzing loudly around the hive, spilling out the front door and crawling up the hive to sit on the roof. Several are sitting on nearby shrubs and sunbathing. There are foragers bringing pollen in, ivy is in flower along with last of borage, nasturtiums and calendula. If it was spring I would think it was swarming. Going to open up and take out apivar strips later, (and remove the super I gave them to clean up but then forgot about) but should I be looking for anything else in particular at this point in the year? I'm a bit worried about overcrowding as there are lots of bees but I'm assuming numbers will naturally drop off now.
