I'd feel deeply distressed if cats were forced to stay indoors though.
Has been very quiet on Twitter since "This lot" moved in. Wonder why?Downing st, cat ???????????
I haven't had a cat since moving to Wales. I do miss one but the wildlife more than makes up for it. We have hedgehog boxes dotted round the garden and we had a camera on one. I was delighted when a rabbit moved into it and gave birth to five kittens. One night the camera caught a farmyard cat (the only kind around here) drag out and eat every one!Cats are allowed to free roam and disturb and kill a lot of wildlife. The disturbance has a sub lethal effect so it's not just about the hunting.
Nonetheless, allowing your cat to roam in others gardens and kill birds etc. because you will not hang a bell round the little darlings neck
Then I guess it is on a lead thenA bell makes no difference whatsoever. Cats are more than capable of moving sufficiently stealthily that the bell won't make a sound.

Oddly enough there are folks up here that actually do take their cat out on a lead. Maybe a local thing or simply a few oddballs, who knows. Then I guess it is on a lead then

Some neighbours of ours had two daughters and used to go to Blackpool every year for a week in a boarding house. One year they took along one of the girls friends (Joyce). Everything going well until evening meal when they were seated in a bay windows waiting for the food. Suddenly Joyce leapt up pointing and shouting "Mr S, Mr S that bloody cats shitting in the flower beds again!" The other guests were hugely amusedCould not agree more!!
I am in the same position, constantly seeing off cats who are either using my borders as a latrine or stalking birds. The moment I turn over any soil the stinking creatures think it's a free for all s**t fest.
There's a product which I think is called "silent roar" which consists of wood pellets impregnated with lion urine. Apparently very effective at keeping cats away.Could not agree more!!
