Ive had decent success with a couple of these NUCs in raising two lots of new queens from splits ie 2 x NUCS x 2 chambers so 8 queens.

Actually the second cycle is about a week away from queen emergence. My question is how much to feed? Ive kept them pretty topped up - If you give, they take it down, they need it sort of logic. Is that the way to go?

If they have sufficient stores then I wouldn't feed. There's a good flow on right now.

Basic question...if you have a 3 frame mating NUC should you keep feeding what they can take? Or limit?

Keeping bees in small nucs can be tricky limit feed to what they need even nucs can make swarm preps and they can abscond. If you keep offering it they will take it judge on your inspections. With current conditions even the small nucs should be self sufficient week to week once established.

I like the BS split box and don't feed unless in a dearth. Have had good results (failures no fault of the box) and overwintered a few (one on a windy pub roof in which both halves developed quickly in spring).
