    Strawberries

Nothing like fresh strawberries, I have had a few of mine as well, although had to fight off a blackbird today who was trying to nick one

    aggressive bees

Agree not something I would probably do, but was in a very public apiary

    aggressive bees

One of my hives turned nasty last year, believe it was lack of laying Queen due to swarming and weather. They did all you mentioned but most annoyingly had hundreds flying directly at my face and trying to climb under the sleeves of my suit ever time I inspected. I have hives in my garden and...

    Angry bees. Nature or nurture?

My bees have been quite angry for a few weeks, they swarmed end May/Begin June and attempts to queen rear have not worked so now buying one. Between the bad weather and lack of Queen, they are not nice to handle at the moment and there are a lot of followers.

    My First Honey

Well done, I've harvested my first lot after starting this year, is so rewarding trying to resist the urge to put more beehives everywhere!

Is there anyone who can help ?

Your best bet would be to speak to a recruitment agency in your area and talk it through what your skills are and what sort of opportunities are available. Sorry is not my area so can't suggest any, but google it and it should come up with some.

    Human Reasources anyone ?

I'm an HR Manager and see loads of CVs, I think the improvements you have made are a lot better and agree with most of the feedback above, although I would add back in the Training that you have undertaken/planning to and add a bullet point list of key strengths and skills at the beginning...

    Chick born with lump

The 9 chicks are growing well now, fingers crossed Polyanwood your eggs have hatched. It is exciting and fascinating to watch them, just hope they continue to do well.

    Chick born with lump

Thanks for your comments. 3rd one with the leg died as well, think it was broken as just wasn't walking. 1st one still healthy and fingers crossed think is female because of the colouring of first feathers (is a Marran cross), but that could be wishful thinking. Yep think the 2nd had a yolk...

    Chick born with lump

The one with the lump has now died and the 3rd hatchling is not walking because of a limb foot. I don't think I was meant to hatch my own chicks. The 1st is good and strong but is not looking like there are many more on the way. Oh well I tried, looks like I may need to buy some. Thanks for your...

    Chick born with lump

I think that temp was a bit lower than it should have been and the power was off for about 5 hours, others are starting to pip now so I am crossing my fingers very firmly that more are on their way and the temp has just slowed their development and not halted it. I think there may be a number...

    Chick born with lump

We are hatching chicks for the first time and it has been disappointing so far with only 2 out of 30 hatched (3 more look like they are trying) and they are about 3+ days late (we had a powercut the weekend before and I think this has caused some problems). Anyone the second chick has hatched...

Useful thread, I have the same issue with the original nuc frames on mine, might wait until next year to do this now though

    Bee warned

Ouch, being a newbie I thought I was being over cautious, but pleased I am now, worth the extra minute checking everything is done up tightly

Swarm attached to the bottom of a hive

I spotted the dot as well, most of the bees have gone now, we saw many of them fly in the entrance. The dot is the same colour as some of the pollen we have seen the bees collecting so I think it is just that. They do keep you guessing !not worthy
