    Multiple eggs in cells

RAB My question was - is multiple eggs in cells always a sign of Laying workers or can there be another explanation. I think this was answered and thanks to all for that. I think you suggested that I wasn't able to tell by the look of it if it was laying workers (i don't think i can) so I put...

    Multiple eggs in cells

I may be wrong but I had two hives with a similar problem - one now is doing fine with plenty normal brood. I will assume this was a queen just settling in. I had hoped this hive would follow suit. Given the pics i know it's now unlikely. Would you suggest finding the queen and re-queening?

    Multiple eggs in cells

I may add to this thread later.. I'm going to leave another 10 days or so though I might take out the frames with all this drone brood before they emerge. Thanks for the suggestions

    Multiple eggs in cells

When I initially went into the hive there were the multiple eggs in the cells but nothing was capped and it didn't look like this! I think that might explain why this does not tie in with the original post. What I was interested in was is this failing queen or laying workers. Requeening is a...

    Plastic frames

I have all my MB polyhives with supers with plastic frames in this year. Only thing I could say so far is that it's been slow but this is most likely weather related. Checked yesterday and they are drawing out the frames fine. The odd frame warped on contact with the wax but they came back to...

    Multiple eggs in cells

Hopefully this will work - a few pictures from the hive. One hive all settled and doing fine no sign of multiple eggs but this one still the same. Queen not seen. It was a swarming hive which I split from and then eventually re-queened

    Multiple eggs in cells

Cheers for that - I kind of thought all wa well and it didn't seem like a laying worker sort of hive - doing too well

    Multiple eggs in cells

Im interested in anyone's opinion on how big a problem I have in 2 of my hives. Both have multiple frames of brood in a good pattern and little drone brood, but there are a few cells in each where there is more than one egg. Can this just be a less than perfect queen? Or is this always laying...

    Scientific evidence for honey-based cures

I have prescribed honey dressings before for our district nurses to use in the recent past. I'm sorry I don't know the research behind it. The dressings are all in the bnf (british national formulary)

Can you treat for nosema in the spring?

I read the posts last year about thymol syrup helping with nosema - bought all the stuff methylated spirits the granules etc then never got round to doing it in the autumn.. Now worried about a couple colonies. Am I too late? Is it possible to squeeze in some treatment before the first flows...
