Hi guys I am at the moment in southern Spain it's about 27c and the Orange/Lemon trees are just starting to blossom, the smell is intoxicating. There are honey bees on the flowers but with so many trees and flowers they got to be literally busy bees :) I suspect you bees would love a holiday...

Just thought I get this thread going again as yet again the Great Tits are feeding their young on my bees – from what I can see they are only taking the dead ones so are more than welcome.

I had a look through my 6 hives this week and while there was some drone brood I only saw one drone.

Those artichockes should have been in the pan before flowering :)

Only two flowers out on my Victoria plum tree at the moment - no flowers out yet on the cooking plum or on the green gage.

Well, what a difference a day makes – yesterday plus 3kg, today minus 700 grams.

They are Avery scales I got from where I worked when they shut down and weigh up to 250kg in 100 gram increments.

No OSR but plenty of Willow and the usual suspects.

One of my hives is on scales so while the weather has been good the bees have been collecting 3ks a day :) I was watching them at lunchtime and about ¾ of the bees were bringing in pollen – so the other ¼ have either done really with the nectar or the bees changed tack and started bringing in...

Now don’t go giving the government any ideas about how they can tax beekeepers – they come up with enough ways to tax people without any help :)
