    Two sealed QCs

I have obviously made a mistake, but was wondering whether they are trying to supersede her anyway.

    Two sealed QCs

Yup, we all make mistakes, am having one of those weeks :blush5:

    Two sealed QCs

....in my nuc! Stupidly thought I could nearly relax. Have seen BIAS and thought all was well and looking healthy to overwinter. To add insult to injury I thought I would mark the present young queen while I could spot her (and before I noticed the QCs) and the pen leaked all over her head. So...

A little update on how we are doing

My bees are still bringing in loads of HB and my 14x12 is chockablock full of stores and brood - there would be no room for extra food if I fed them anyway, having extracted and let them clean up one wet super. I am hoping nature will take its course this year, and as brood decreases they will...

    Near miss!

Good grief, good job you weren't there either!

Overwinter in a nuc or a brood box?

RAB - where did you get your poly shallow box for your nuc? I also have a 6 frame 14x12 and am considering my options over the coming weeks.

Our girls did it...our first Queen!

Excellent news:party: am looking forward to a first peek in my nuc over the weekend to see if mine has also worked. I am a week or so behind you, and my nuc has 14x12 frames in so I'm thinking of over wintering in that if all works out, but will be interested in comments on your thread.

    Blackout

:iagree: especially as time moves on and events become beyond loving memory.

    Blackout

My other half's grandfather did a similar thing with me. Never spoke about the war till on a first visit to him as a teenager I went and asked him. Then out came the story of being a driver at the liberation of Belsen. The family were stunned.

    Blackout

Yep, took the opportunity today to get out all the family war memorabilia, medals, Princess Mary tin, letters etc to share with the children.

    18 frames...into the harvest

Blackcurrant vodka, delicious. Going to try gooseberry vodka this year.

    national brood box to 14X12

:) I chose 14x12, I am quite small and fairly weak, haven't needed to move the BB yet, but the frames are quite manageable and there are the positives of the extra space for bees in summer and for stores in winter. I have left one of the national frames in for drone brood/varroa control.

    Hive Alive BBC2 On Now!

As a massive generalisation, the younger generation live for the here and now, zipping from one thing to another to find out about themselves. Beekeeping takes thought, planning, patience and tenacity amongst many other things, qualities often associated with maturity.
