    You are right I was able to dislodge them by shaking the branch with a long implement and then within minutes they were back again, three times. A few have shown interest in the bait hive but only a few. They are still on the tree, no comb on the branch when shaken off.

    They are still there, unfortunately they are on the top branch of the tree,I had said to the owner they would probably move on but they haven’t as yet.

    Hello, I got called to a swarm in a neighbouring village, the bees, possibly a cast swarm, has settled in a cherry tree about 25 feet up, is there a method of collecting them or moving them on that doesn’t involve me up a ladder 25 up!? They have been there now three days .

    Thanks Hemo, the queen cells were just about to be capped,there were two but one got damaged and I left only one. Will check end of next week. With the vast number of bees present I don’t thing they have swarmed. Thanks

    Update:- thanks Enrico, adapted your suggestion….with a little help from my friends (experienced beekeepers) we took the hive apart. To my amazement there where some eggs and brood and two charged Q cells. We took a brood box full of stores off and it is at the top of the hive over a crown board...

    Thanks, but actually that was what I was trying to do when it was impossible to see anymore due to being covered with bees, do I have just persevere with the bees and try and get a frame in? Will that calm them down if they rear a queen? thanks

    Fruit tree blossom

    I have five cherry and five apple trees within 200yards of the hives, they both are in flower at the moment and both have a reasonable amount of bees on them, there is a field of OSR nearby but the dandelion and fruit trees seem to be well visited. Could make for interesting honey!
