Time to protect against wasp attack?

Had wasps around and in a weak colony already, so a bit of caution required.

    AFB Gloucestershire

IIRC, that's anyone within 5 k of the outbreak who's registered with Beebase. There are many bee keepers who are not registered who will not know of movement restrictions or care for that matter. I suspect some will still move colonies around regardless ?

Help please. I Can't even find the creek, let alone the paddle!

Not going to be much help or commfort sorry. Capped queen cell usually means swarmed or supercedure. Taking down queen cells is a way of delaying/frustrating swarming but if she's gone you've now lost all chance of recovery unless you can obtain a frame of broad with eggs.

The Wonder of Bees BBC4 Mon.14th. April

Interestingly made by ITV production for the BBC. If you watched the follow up "Who killed the honeybee" 2008 Martha states she's kept bees for seven years, so should not be as inexperienced as portrayed in the earlier program. BTW her gloves were manky then too and wild comb above crown board...

transfering bees from an old hive to a new hive

Welcome Joe, I suspect this maybe a neglected hive, try to remove frame and they fall apart? As Redwood says but if you can't find the queen leave out QE, check several days later to see if she's laying in top box, if yes put QE in and keep fingers crossed you've trapped her in top box!
