    The Caviar of Lexicography

No, it used to be a real ale and tennis themed pub- the Firkin Racquet. .

    More nasty little tealeaves

Hives all home and, I believe, none the worse. Sadly, it appears no arrests are forthcoming, but you can't have everything. .

Robert Webb replies to Russel Brand

I've just watched the paxman interview, and read Robert Webb's piece. 1-0 to Webb, methinks. .

    More nasty little tealeaves

I don't know if they got the toerag- I'm waiting for more info. They weren't offered for sale, I believe they were seen to have appeared in the corner of a field. As for identification, they were (fortunately) from a small producer with his own little design details. I will repost when I get...

    More nasty little tealeaves

Unexpected update! I've just heard that our hives have been recovered! New Forest BKA were told of our loss, and one of their members reported seeing 4 new hives in the area. Police were informed, our association were contacted, and the hives identified as ours! They are now back in our...

Are they definitely honey bees? It can be hard to tell from a distance- a nest of tree bumbles can look as busy as a colony of honey bees. Also how close will the builders be to their entrance?

    Varroa

I've heard that multiple applications of OA can cause harm. I've also heard that it's safe. Until I'm sure which it is, I try to avoid multiple applications in a season. .

    Varroa

From MAQS instructions- Mite Away Quick Strips stops the mite where it reproduces. The strip is designed to penetrate the brood cap, stopping the mite where it reproduces. Working temperature given as 10-29.5 C, so would seem like an option.

    Sugarbabes

It's sometimes done as an emergency measure- carry a bag of sugar, if you find a starving hive poke a hole in the bag, pour some water in and slap it over the feed hole as being better than nothing- but I believe it's much harder work for the bees as they have a lot of large crystals they have...
