    Problems with 4" roof

as per others - rolled fondant on top bars inside a shallow eke (useful to make a solid CB with the necessary high raised rim on one side for use with fondant or apiguard). insulation on top or in roof. deep 8" roof with heavy ply sides - example here on a poly nuc. and all strapped down.

help i think i lost my queen

what makes you think you lost her? you closed up hive, moved it, allowed to settle then opened. highly unlikely to have lost her doing that. just wait and see when you take a peek in a few weeks time on a warm day.

Opinions - best vehicle for Beeks?

"so I do not need to drive around wearing a beesuit" you don't need one if you wrap hives in net-curtain or similar mozzie net material.

    Moving bees in winter

"because the winter cluster can be affected" as i've stated before the winter cluster isn't some magic solid lump of bees that forms in november and dissolves in february/march. it's a dynamic situation dependent upon ambient temperature. sure gentle moving WILL disturb the cluster somewhat...

Opinions - best vehicle for Beeks?

"Any off road driving and you soon realise you need to go down the gears to keep control on downhill slopes" unless your car has an effective hill descent system built in.

    Mono-filament fishing line gauge

personally i find that fishing line doesn't conduct electricity adequately and doesn't melt the wax.

    mann lake manners

"I don't see how that response to a potential customer was in any way a good one" but you weren't a potential customer unless you were happy to pay more.

    Handbags?

how about golf ball in a sock/stocking? dual purpose - both violent and creative (scottish method for dusting cakes for those who don't watch bake-off).

    Which poly hive?

with a few bits of strip wood to make a shallow eke the abelo LS polys happily take more national frames warm way than a proper national (13 IIRC).

    Insulation: I don't get it!

JBG - how do you think the southern european beekeeping industry has survived all these years?
