    Newbeek question :) Out of interest is there a particular reason that more people dont use Modified Dadants ? I would of thought with the larger capacity brood chamber that this would help against swarming and the need for brood and a half or maybe double brood ? Is it because they are heavy...

    What did you do in the Apiary today?

    Spent the afternoon at S Gloucs bee keepers assoc apiary. Weve now been split into 4 groups and each group given 2 hives... very educational sorting out hive that needed a lot of attention too :) Now all sorted and looking forward to going back to continue the work :)

    next super - where?

    Newbee here but ... thought the new super went under the full one so you could use a crown board between them so you could get the bees off of the full super so you could nick the honey :D ... mind you im probably wrong lol :coolgleamA: Lance

    Elderflower just coming out now, plenty of buttercup still about and still a fair bit of hawthorn. Also still bringing in pollen from Dandelions :)

    Molving hives less than 3 miles

    A quick one on this subject :) I want to move my hives that have been in situ for about 2 weeks to another part of my garden, probably about 20-30 yard max ... is this a no no then ? or can i move them late in the evening and hope they re-orientate ? Thanks for answers from a newbee :)

    Hiya Mr Jinks Picked up my first hive just over a week ago from M******e, came VERY well packaged with wire mesh stapled over the front entrance and the holes in the crownboard. there were also large staples holding the floor to the brood box so all very secure. One thing i would say though...

    Sorry for the newbeek question :) I would like to move my beehives into a different part of my Garden. This area catches a lot more sunlight time than their current position but has household powerlines going across the area/near the area. Ive heard high voltage lines can cause problems but...
