    certan/b401 - do we not need a sticky ?

Certanly (see what I did there?) no need to reapply. I've stored it for < 1 month in the fridge, shaken it and applied ... no wax moth problems, but perhaps there weren't any wax moths to cause problems. Park Beekeeping state that it must be used on the same day ...

    Varroa tray inspection

Treat them promptly. Apivar is a good choice. Littlehampton is probably reasonably warm, but a month of Apiguard takes you to October and average temperatures may be below those recommended for treating. Apivar needs to be on for 6 weeks and then removed.

    Varroa tray inspection

Is that a week with treatment or without? If the latter you've got problems ahead ... get treating as soon as possible. If the former it depends a bit what sort of treatment you used. Most mites are in capped cells, so it depends upon the amount of sealed brood that has emerged in the last week...

    Power Source for Sublimox

Fortunately then: Compact and lightweight, this inverter generator produces 100% pure sine wave power making it safe for sensitive electronic equipment. 40cc 4-stroke engine means low noise and no need for mixing fuel or oil. Perfect for charging Li-ion batteries on site or for outdoor power...

    Power Source for Sublimox

The cheapo Impax 700W one from Screwfix works just fine

    Power Source for Sublimox

Poly nucs ... I use Everynucs and they have a cavernous maw ... I cut a block of wood that completely covers the entrance and has a 7mm hole through it through which I poke the Sublimox. A little bit of vapour escapes the sides which I could fix with a foam strip around the block of wood. But...

    Fondant as main winter feed

Use your Miller feeders upside down with the fondant block underneath?

    Fondant as main winter feed

Only feed fondant. It "just works" ... Tips - sell your Miller feeders and use the space they occupy for 98% of the year to store something more useful ;)

    Credit where credit is due

Beefriendly ... our association used to purchase them in bulk, but not the numbers Hivemaker quotes. I think the final charge to members was about £1.40 and that included a 5% markup for club funds etc. It's an obvious thing for cooperative purchasing - easy to store, no shelf life, impervious...

    Certan

Ha! Those must be those tiny little frames you use in the South West ;) I suspect it would work at 0.1% (i.e. 2p/20 frames) but so rarely see wax moth that I can't meaningfully test it.

    Certan

How much less than 2p/frame does it need to be to qualify as 'super cheap'? ;) 500g of DiPEL on eBay costs about £32

    Sticky labels

That was a neat gadget from Thomas Bickerdike (didn't it win a prize at the NHS?) but I wish the jar was vertical. I do as wessexmario says as it means the lid of the jar stays honey-free. It's easier on square or hex jars than round ones. Remember, if the label carries the word 'artisan'...

    AFB management

I think NBU reckon about 40% of beekeepers aren't registered on Beebase. Not certain about this and - of course - it's difficult to verify. Anyone know better? I'm afraid I also know several beekeepers who are Beebase registered ... but are also clueless ;)

    Handling wax moth

You're not treating tomatoes! 1% works ... and works out at 2p/frame.

    Plastic sheet as crown board

I find the easiest way to cut up that polycarbonate stuff is to score it deeply with a Stanley knife, clamp it tightly with a piece of wood above and below, and very close to the scored line, then give it a hard and sharp smack. It breaks neatly along the line. Break the smaller piece off the...

Online websites or apps for selling honey locally?

Daft. OK perhaps in buckets or drums. I sell half pound rounds to shops for more than that.

    Plastic sheet as crown board

Works a treat. No condensation issues because there's an insulation block of some sort over the top - poly roof, block of kingspan etc.

    8-way clearer

Yes, they can go through a clearer the wrong way ... try putting a full super (empty of bees) on top of a clearer on a hive. Similarly, if you leave a clearer on too long there always seem to be more bees in the top box than there should be. I've noticed this year that a clearer appears to...

re-using jars for friends and family

Funny that ... my family cringes when I try and sell it to them ;) For my own use and for family I do re-use jars, often with those simple white plastic lids. All go through a super-hot wash in the dishwasher before re-use. Anything for sale, or for gifts, is new washed jars and lids.

    £1 for 1lb

About the same http://calculateinflation.com/uk/ I think ... Do you mean CPI https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Consumer_price_index ? This is the 'basket of goods' one. If so, I can't find the CPI data.
