    Cars hate me

Had same sort of problems when I had an Octavia Estate found the final problem to be the black box that connects to the ECU it is positioned under the vent at the back of the bonnet and can fill with water.Changed black box and ECU and reprogrammed myself.Saved myself a few pounds.

    Green desert

Think a lot of the hedge cutting is down to the farmers mindset some cut the hedge down to an inch of its life others only cut when required. A lot of it stems from the EU grant system. Hopefully now times are harder for farmers we will see less waste of time, fuel and money.

I very rarely cut the hedges around our fields so usually plenty of forage, but this year has been so up and down with the weather that the bees have been unable to get much for days on end.Yesterday even though it was raining they were all over the ivy.

Brood and a half - all the brood is in the half!

I gave up with queen excluders years ago as I found some small queens can still get through. You could always use a super frame between two brood frames if you need to do a split, they will just draw more comb below the super frame .You can swap it out later if needed.

Why do 7-day inspections work - when they do?

Very rarely if ever see the queens in my hives and don't bother making a point of finding her.If there is healthy brood in all stages and no queen cells then thats good enough for me.
