    feral colony

Does anyone know how long a feral colony of bees is likely to last . We know of a colony that has been living in an oak tree for at least 3 years. We have seen a lot of bees going in and out of the entrance over the last few weeks and was wondering if it would be worth putting out a bait hive in...

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Have just spent a few hours making up brood frames and frames for supers as we've just had two new hives delivered. Barry refuses point blank to make up frames but I find it strangely therapeutic, you can just daydream about warmer weather and bees buzzing in the sunshine

    fondant going hard

The fondant is in a shallow plastic tub on the crownboard over one of the holes , should it still be wrapped in clingfilm. The hive is situated by a stream so the bees do have a water source very close by so I suppose they should be ok then.

    Stingless bees

stingless bees would mean man messing with nature yet again. this has caused problems in the passed, if they didnt need a sting nature would dispose of it over time. as for me the thought of getting stung isnt pleasant so it keeps you on your toes.
