    Beetradex update

this made me laugh. You ought to dig back to the early years of the forum and you’ll find all sorts of zealots…and a fair few were banned for life as a result ! which is funny as the forum was set up originally because many were unhappy with the way the BBKA forum was being run and moderated...

    Another Beekeeping show

The BFA took a decision Pre-Covid to move its AGM to the end of the year to make it easier for members to attend (the Bee Farm open day tends to be very well attended) and for financial reasons John Heard explained at the time but I forget what exactly….year end or something … but it does mean...

    Another Beekeeping show

I don't think people want BeeTradex to fail - but we do want a proper trade show that has all the suppliers represented at it and therefore of interest to all beekeepers. That is the challenge... It is why I didn't attend - I want to be able to see choice and breadth and depth of suppliers. KR S

What did you do in the 'workshop' today

Still making frames and filling with foundation trying to be positive when there’s so much bad news from Ukraine… Every nail has Pukins head on it !

    Storm Eunice

The day began with me walking back across town after dropping of my work car for a service..I could hear the wind very high up whistling like you hear again if you’re on the coast - that high pitched whooshing of air moving fast in the upper atmosphere yet almost nothing at ground level. By the...

    Dark honey

I’d say summer honey with lime in it as blackberry didn’t do well last year generally the tree honeys tend to darken the colour I’ll try and post a photo sometime of my English buckwheat honey - now that’s like treacle ! S

Filipe Salbany- Somerset Beekeepers' Association online event

I’m disappointed that SBKA are even considering giving this gentleman air time…. Delusional preaching I suspect and it’ll brainwash even more about myths regarding bees in the UK

    My Trip for Honey

Hi Alan While not Stinchcombe (I used to play golf there as a youth) I do have bees near Stroud so message me if you want a taste of the Stroud Valleys again....it's a good area for honey but yields vary year to year KR S

What did you do in the Apiary today?

Filling a few hundred deep frames with foundation. More to do today…a good job when it’s cold and forecast wet and windy outside. Shame I can’t get Wi-Fi at the workshop and my signal is poor else I’d be streaming some bee-related content off Tube You

Need help with honey soft set mixer 500 kg - 1000 kg

I’d agree - have a steam wax separator that is wel made by Konigin you could try a smaller Abelo…I guess though you have a big demand for creamed honey in Sweden ?? kr S

Need help with honey soft set mixer 500 kg - 1000 kg

I picked up a 200kg Abelo honey creamer for a good price 2nd hand last season. New they don’t cost €6k do they ?? I’d be careful about trying to make a home made one as there is more than an equal chance of drill fillings getting mixed in with the blend as parts wear….sounds good on paper but...

    Jar Price Inflation

I think we can also agree that both our rugby teams weren't on top form yesterday either ! Yes space is the issue (and tying up working capital). I can see a lot of hobbyists increasingly either use non-standard jars or re-use/return standard honey jars, although this has been debated before...

    Jar Price Inflation

So on a cold wet Sunday with the Beijing Winter Olympics on in the back ground, I've been having a slow day - a catch up with old Uni pals in Bristol last night with a number of alcoholic beverages consumed while we watched the rugby, I've not done much 'bee related' stuff today. I ordered a...
