    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Well that is super interesting. I know its a small sample-size, but I thought if it had an effect it would be that they swarm later rather than not-at-all. Thank you.

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Can I just get clarification please: Later-on, they didn't swarm? Or their swarming was no later than usual? Thanks for the info :)

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

For sure! But there is obvious utility in finding out first if others have tried it before and have conclusive results.

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Yes indeed. Fortunately I am big enough, old enough and ugly enough to recognise and summarily dismiss from my thoughts certain types of people here just as I would in life. They have made themselves irrelevant. But I am considerably less delicate in this regard than many who will simply go...

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

I can definitely see the logic there. I am not even sure HOW useful it would be if it works, but I just gotta know! 🤷‍♂️

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

I don't have a NEED per-se. What I have is an inquiring mind. If they actually work, then more options IS better. Some sources seem to suggest that a superseded colony is much less likely to swarm. I am expecting the PDF for this article to arrive in my inbox today, for example...

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Think I’ll drop the $30 on this one: https://eurekamag.com/research/000/475/000475270.php

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

THANKS! Yeah I am also not subscribed or part of an academic institution anymore, but I might know someone who is… thanks for this, just what I needed.

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

I don't see commenting on a forum post as being any less prone to ********, frankly. Nevertheless, I intend to continue to ask questions that are not readily answered by other means; my mind works that way and it won't be changing.

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

I intend to learn about ALL possible means including potential new ones. I don't ask about the stuff that is easy to find. Because it's easy to find.

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Even if so, you can supersede with a normal re-queening. The question is whether it affects the swarming instinct and if so, is it enough to be worthwhile doing?

    Supersedure to delay swarming?

Ok google is throwing up way too many general articles for me to find this: Can one artificially supersede a current Queen as a means to delay swarming? (I am talking about raising queen cups in a nuc and adding a 14 or 15 day old queen cell to a big colony without bothering to find the old...

    Test Frame

I arrived here because I’ve been researching pheromones and terpenes; have you tried using it to slow down swarming at all? Theoretically it not only signifies young brood being present and attracts young nurses, but also moves them-on in maturity toward being foragers. Just curious.

    Queen Mandibular Pheromone via trophallaxis?

Ok so simple question: Queen Mandibular Pheromone is passed from bee to bee throughout the colony. I have already read in various places that this happens via trophallaxis but those sources were blogs, I don't trust the information in them to be very accurate. So that's my question: Is the...

Taranov vs Snelgrove: Have I misunderstood? (Swarm control)

That is what made the most sense to me. Have I got Snelgrove's method wrong then? Edit: Also Pagden seems to be Queen with field-bees get a new home (but on the same site) while nurse-bees and brood are moved away. What gives with the contradiction?

Taranov vs Snelgrove: Have I misunderstood? (Swarm control)

Ok, I am a little confused. Taranov's method seems to split the colony by leaving the queen and non-flying, young nurse bees together to make a new colony, while all the others make a new queen from the remaining brood. Snelgrove seems to be doing the opposite: Removing the queen and all...

    New brood chamber on top?

Makes sense. Nah thanks, I think I’ll give that a miss lol.
