    Tradex ''on or off''

Do you know which ones have not gone, its a 250 mile round trip for me and if 25% of the stands (at the moment) are not going I am not sure I will.

    Tradex ''on or off''

Just had Freeman & Harding on the phone telling me they were not going and cancelling my jar order and refunding me. Also told me a decision is imminent as to whether the event is taking place due to the winter weather. They need to decide early as overseas traders will be setting off soon.

    Asian Hornet in Devon

European hornets hawk and take bees, just not so often and there hawking isn't as well practised.

    Devon hornet sighting urgent

Yes of course. Believe me they are looking at everything, every option, new, old and tried and tested. There is a lot of sharing between France and UK. There is a lot that goes on behind the scenes other than just a few bods gazing skyward looking for a nest. We all need to do our bit too, get...

    Devon hornet sighting urgent

They will be checked daily to ascertain the size of the area the hornets are working, traps will be redeployed in different locations to home in on the nest site.

As an SBI I can tell you these apiary inspections are apiary inspections, not colony inspections. Visit the apiary, check for hornets, deploy traps etc. No roof / crown board lifting.

The e mail; Dear Fellow Beekeeper I am writing to you in my capacity as the Event Coordinator of IMYB 2017 and not as a trustee of the BBKA. You may be aware that several letters have recently been circulated by the BBKA Chair and President which have made a number of inaccurate and also...

Catch a swarm THIS weekend?? !!

Nothing on the jungle drums around here of any swarms. I have looked through over 50 hives in the last couple of days and only 1 of them had any drone brood. Swarming is dependent on many things, location, hive type, colony size, nature of the bees you have etc. I am confident that mine wont be...

    Bailey comb change

Ah, no QE, so there may be brood in the super too. You need to wait until you have had a full look and can ascertain the real strength of the colony, full frames of brood and full frames of bees.
