    I'm not sure why either, for someone like me with a small car (Smart) I couldn't fit a hive with 2 supers in but could get colonies in the back, maybe other people had the same problem. Regards CD

    Local BKA auction today !

    Hi All, Our local BKA had their annual auction today, in the lots were 2 national hives with supers and bees, 4 colonies and one nuc. Hive 1 sold for £260, Hive 2 sold for £230, the colonies went for £230, £270, £280, and £320 respectively, the nuc sold for £210. the same guy bought them...

    Hi All, Thank you very much for the information and identification not worthy It's nice to know what these things are and that the bees like them, I'm suprised that the marsh marigolds aren't out in Leeds too it shows what a difference 60 odd miles can make and I'll apologise for the weed...

    Hi All, I was out in the riverbank with the dogs this afternoon and the bees were out in force too, mainly on the Marsh Marigolds but a lot of them seemed to be going for some other sort of weed that grows in profusion, Here's a pic of one that I cut, Does anyone have any idea what it is...

    What did you do in the 'workshop' today

    I bought a couple of 14x12 flatpacks before Christmas and now the weathers warmed up a bit I spent the weekend putting them together, next warm day, I'll make a start on the frames. Regards CD

    Both hives out and about and bringing in pollen, having a quick look round I could see them in my and neighbours gardens visiting the snowdrops. Regards CD

    Dry leather gloves

    I used neatsfoot oil on mine, it softened them up nicely, it soaks in and dries without leaving any sticky residue, doesn't seem to bother the bees either. Regards CD

    Travelling screen for DIY slug.

    When I moved bees last year, I used a mosquito net, £7.99 from the local camping shop (dont buy one treated with insecticide, just a plain one) I put the box in the net, folded it over and held it in place with masking tape, not one escapee on the journey home. Regards CD
