Would a colony survive winter in a half nuc?

One factor no one have mentioned is the sun. A small cluster in wooden hive uses warmth from ex early morning sun to move and reorganize in winter.
 
One factor no one have mentioned is the sun. A small cluster in wooden hive uses warmth from ex early morning sun to move and reorganize in winter.
Colonies in sunny sites start laying earlier in the spring. I’ve also found wooden hives in sunny spots often start laying before those in poly.
