Does anyone on this forum know where I can source 'Western Red Cedar' to make my own hives? I am looking at boards wide enough to make 14x12 National Hives.

You will probably have to joint boards together for 14x12 broods or find some trees and have the timber cut to your size ;) Canadian WRC is available through timber merchants, they may have to order it for you and some of the bigger suppliers may stock it.

UK WRC is slightly more difficult to source and generally comes with quite a few knots where as Canadian is nearly always knot free.

There's a sawmill in Usk that sell it at a reasonable price.a brood box costs me around the same price as if I made it from ply but it needs drying and planing.air drying will take about three months.
