Have extracted 2 supers and have the cappings and some honey left in the uncapping tray. Can this be returned to the hive placed in a feeder for the bees
to clear the honey from the wax.

I do but I have the cappings in a sieve in the warmer overnight as I find there is too much honey in them and a lot of bees get stuck in it

Same here, drain overnight then into a rapid feeder for the bees to play about in.

I find that, even after draining out as much honey as possible, I have to stir up the cappings with the hive tool to allow the bees access to the honey on the cappings at the bottom of the heap.

In my experience, the cappings' wax should end up looking and feeling like sawdust and it should not be sticking together.

I find the same CVB, but the end product is great.
