.... by the time you've taken into account the time it takes and bought the timber .. no brainer.

The time, what you have spent to my posts, you could have done to you and to all your beekeeping society the frames what they need. More over you could sell the frames and donate money to poor families.

Reminds me of a personal ad posted in the paper.

Woman wanted to cook, sweep, and clean fish. Must have boat and motor. Send picture of boat and motor.

Jenkins has worse problem.
His sheep has a baby. Next door neighbour's eyes.

Well, fwiw,I am just taking quotes for Smith and National frames from overseas makers......to OUR spec (stronger) not the UK normal which are too weak..........and getting prices for first quality between 42p and 56p. An expensive maker is quoting us 78p.

That's assembled too btw...AND prewired.

In the flat they can be had for as little as 28p.

This is what makers would refer to as a DN5. Hoffman and with the wider topbars.

One guy is offering them at 82p........but that's waxed as well.

Sorry to all those who think making them yourselves is cheaper.....I couldn't even BEGIN to pay the labour for that.

and its not the partially seasoned stuff from China either....................all EU factories.

Thinking of starting to sell them now.......at over 1.00 a frame commonly in the UK there is a lot of scope for a margin.

42 to 56p, works out at about the same as the flat packed second quality stuff - so not too bad - but for the average backyard hobbyist probably out of reach at that price (bit of a difference in buying power between the 2 hive and the 2,0000 hive beekeeper :D). The only way would be to club together, then it could be well worthwhile

Exactly the drum I have been beating for all you guys for a long time. Bury your differences, stop being too individualist with your hive variants, club together....and start to get sensible prices.

:icon_204-2::icon_204-2: Try to get two beekeepers to agree to anything, anywhere, anytime !!

I actually agree with you though ... the reason we are bound by high prices in the UK is that we are a nation of principally hobby beekeepers mostly with just a few hives and inevitably buy individually. There are relatively few suppliers of beekeeping equipment and it's not really in their interests to sell cheaply - except when it suits them.

Perhaps we need Stelios to add Easybeekeeping supplies to Easyjet, Easycarhire and Easysupermarket !!

Knowing our luck we'd end up with that slimeball Brian Air:

Right sir - that will be fifty BS National pre-built frames at fifty pence each, making a total of £25.00 oh, and then there's the nail surcharge - that'll be 550 gimp pins at 3p each making a subtotal of £41.50 then there will be the 10% debit card surcharge (oh, it's a credit card - that'll be 20% then) Prefer to pay cash? that's a bit old fashioned, I'm afraid that'll be an extra £15.00. Of course, our operatives must bring the items to your car - don't worry it's only a 2% service charge - would you like to buy a lottery ticket? :D

Buy new or make your own, thats the safest option good luck.

An excellent idea ITTLD, but I've tried it at my association with one product. Got a few takers (nothing in it for me I assure you) but I spent more time 'chasing' people and I was doing them a favour! Some people just can't be arsed and want to be waited on hand and foot. Still learned my lesson this last time glad to say. :)

I have just been comparing prices from all over and what i found in what i was doing, is they all end up being roughly the same price give or take a few quid. but if you can save £4 hey ho the world is your oyster..:D

Obviously more money than me because £4 is still worth the saving. Also if you buy in 'bulk', not a few hundred frames but a few thousand you get some great prices.

Know that feeling.
