I have a 15lb bucket of solid honey from the spring which i want to liquify but i don't have a warming cabinet. I have an oven which is accurate and also cooking thermometers to use inside it to check. Am i silly to try liquifying the honey in the fan oven? If so what temperature is good

Not silly at all - use lowest setting and indpendently monitor temperature, not allowing honey to go above about 40C.

with out the warming cabinet I would put the bucket in the sink and fill the sink with hot water

I did this, and all seemed well, honey was lovely.

As an aside, I've now taken the plunge and am going to make a warming cabinet. I got Robin Chapman's ' how to make a warming cabinet' leaflet which has plans and cutting diagrams. Anyhoo, I took myself off the Travis Perkins today and bought the wood, gave them the cutting plan and they have cut it all out for me. Brilliant. So now all I need to do is screw it all together.

Our oven is digital display and starts at 35 deg C, and is very accurate .
