Sounds like you could have more mice or rats - they do like attics

Madame A agrees that the sound indicates squirrels, pretty sure its not mice or due to the time of night , birds

If it is squirrels and there is any wiring up there it would be a good idea to get rid of them fast - they have a habit of chewing through cables. It works as pest control but the lights tend to go out too...
