Unsealed QC question

Spotted a decent sized queen cell with larvae and jelly on 10th at midday and knocked down any others. (also did AS/split)
Inspected on the 16th and cell not sealed.

Have I selected a dud as it should have been sealed after 5 days?
Or should I check again in a day or two just to be 100% its not been sealed late and if not sealed add a frame of eggs or recombine with the split?

I'd check again in a day or two (you need to anyway to check for further QC's) and then make a decision

Are they still working on it? What's the larva like? If you have frames of eggs elsewhere in abundance, you might see if they want to get going on another.

Unless the artificial swarm took the queen to a new box - they will be looking for eggs for a long time.

Where are brood frames?

When bees notice that they expencive queen cells are away, they do emergency cells from 3 days old larvae.

10th - Queen and some brood/bees removed to a nuc and placed on another stand.
Removed all QC's except one with larvae and jelly in the original hive.
16th - QC not capped.
Stupidly I tore down 3 emergency cells before actually checking the previously selected QC otherwise I could have used one of these instead.

Queen cell will be capped in 5 days .

When queen is gone, bees have 6 days opportunity to make emergency cells.

But you have still that laying queen. Join the hive parts.
