Hi All,
This evening when spying on my girls , this happened. An uncoordinated bee appeared around the entrance moving and flying in an uncoordinated way...in human parlance she looked drunk. Later when she tried to gain entrance the bouncers (guard bees) seemed quite gentle with her but did not admit.
I'm a newbie and have not noticed this "drunken" behavior before in the bees from either colony. Both colonies are growing from being overwintered Nucs. I have been advised to feed them to help get them draw out foundation, which they are doing.
The last time they were seen by another wiser pair of eyes than mine, a week ago he said they were healthy and not obviously diseased, but would benefit by feeding.
So is one late night "wayward" bee significant?
I've read of intoxicated bees from fermented nectar or sugar, also of chronic bee virus paralysis,....worrying stuff!
So what are your thoughts.
Tia
