I have a hive with only a few frames covered although there is a laying queen. I want to move it into a nucleus box for the winter. What is the best time of the day to do this?

If you intend to keep it in the same place, any time that suits you. If you are going to move it, then as late in the day as possible so all the fliers are back. Or very early before they are out.

:)

When warm. Leave the nuc on the original hive site initially, then consider how to move it if this is the plan. ''Few'' is a bit subjective espeially at this time of the year. It might be plenty big enough for a nuc hive ia few weeks, so you may need to transfer some brood awY - who knows!
