Is that spelt divorge or divorce!!

Around here, it is spelled "disgorge" cause that is what you do. Interesting aside, we would use "spelled" instead of "spelt". If I said "spelt" I would be discussing a primitive form of wheat.

OED

Usage

The standard spelling is supersede rather than supercede. The word is derived from the Latin verb supersedere but has been influenced by the presence of other words in English spelled with a c, such as intercede and accede. The c spelling is recorded as early as the 16th century; although still generally regarded as incorrect, it is now entered without comment in some modern dictionaries.

So pedants use supersede and the rest of the world spells it incorrectly. :)

I tried this out on my wife, who has nothing to do with bees, and she immediately spelled it with a "c" which as she is a retired school teacher surprised me. But she pointed out proceed, procedure, and precede are all spelled with "c". But she said things to do with bees are not of any interest to her.

Did she teach English? :)
