by the spring, the pollen in the frames won't be of any use anyway, just leave them for the pollen mites to clean up

It would seem a waste , I've a brood box of frames and some of the frames are loaded with pollen .
I don't like wasting things considering how much they've worked to collect it??

My nuc had a second box added two weeks ago, six frames of pollen and honey.

Well Steve I've been round two apiarys and managed to give extra pollen stores to two hives I've still 7 frames so....... The better half has made space for more frames in the freezer , I'm now making bloody jelly tonight
I'm a house bee again!

Hope you have not robbed a colony that needed it to produce their winter bees. I once had a full brood box of pollen on an Italian colony, who by oxalic in December had eaten it all!

Not everyone has that sort of space Dani.

Even with a double garage here I am not sure I can squeeze one in or at least not before I sell the tank and pump.

No they don’t that’s true
I have managed to squeeze a dedicated freezer into my bee room but the room is now a joke!
I have to move things to get to other stuff. I certainly couldn’t get a shipping container in ;)
