Old dried teabags.

I read a while ago that not all tea bags are fully biodegradable, and some contain plastic. I'm not sure if it means they're suitable for burning.

that's why you get little fluffy pom poms floating around the garden if you try composting tea-bags! They all gather in a little huddle in the corner, or wherever the eddies take them.

I always use hay because we have a lot of it. I have tried egg boxes and the cardboard packing that thrones put in everything but the smoke smells really acrid and the bees don`t like it, you can tell by the noise they make that it is not appreciated. The compressed cotton waste that thrones sell is good, I used that one year when we had torrential rain and everything was soaked/damp.
