Are small queens no good?,I've had a new queen for two weeks now and she is still not laying, she is a very small queen.

Queens can be quite deceptive before a queen is mated she can look very much like a worker bee only with longer legs then will fatten up to what would seem like a normal queen.

However I have a queen who is smallist at present but to me was large beginning of April and she is very prolific. I have also got a big large perfect looking queen and she is a lazy bugger not great at laying at all.

Hope this helps

I have had useless massive queens and tiny pocket rockets that headed powerful colonies.

For a start by the sounds of it your lass is not yet mated.

Patience and some background reading will assist.
