I am hoping to pick up a couple of swarms this year (after my neighbour had four in her garden last summer). I have set up a couple of bait nucs, and also the two hives that the swarms will go in (it's easier to store them outside fully set up than to keep them in the shed).

One of the hives has been attracting a lot of attention from what I assume are scout bees; three or four at a time flying in and out. This morning I have seen one throwing out fragments of wax from some of the old comb. This seems a little over-zealous; has anyone else observed this kind of thing?

Typical behaviour by scouts. Good chance a swarm will turn up although there may be other scouts from same colony that have found somewhere better. It will all come down to the final "dance off" as to where they eventually go.

A nuc box may be too small for some swarms.
A standard brood box with a reduced entrance would be preferred.

Can bee hives in use attract swarms to your garden, as I've been into mine and I found two marked queens unfortunately one is dead, I don't know which is mine because both are marked the same colour.im guessing there has been some takeover or attempted takeover.
