So question is it advisable for a first year beginner like myself to requeen a couple of hives at this time of year?

I have a couple of hives that were originally swarms from this year but the queens were not marked so do not know how old they are.... I would like to requeen then I go into next year with 4 hives with this year's queens and will start my second year in hopefully a good position.

If the answer is yes what's the best way to do this? I can make a couple of nucs up if not too late and do the newspaper method. What do you guys think?

Just to add both hives are wall to wall brood except the 2 outside frames.

Thanks for the replies.. I will leave them be and see what next year brings....

Just don't forget to treat them for varroa and make sure they have enough stores for the winter.
:iagree:
And wrap them up in a nice comfy cosie :icon_204-2:

Portents of a long miserable winter ( No mention of Brexit or another General Election or the night of the long knifes!) cold and wet.

Nos da
