queen piping

Had a call from a concered chap, stating he can hear " a queen piping " in the cavity wall.

He knows they are honeys as he heard this in a previous home (HIS WORDS)

He also says these bees are new and were not there last year.

Have i read this correct, its the NEW queens in larvae stage that pip' and not adults ?

if this is correct the bees were there last year.

It's usually virgin queens that pipe and, apparently mated queens on the point of swarming

He has asked me to remove the bees from his home, so i'm heading there later to assess.

"Hi, I believe we\'ve got a colony of bees just settling into our roof space, getting in behind the fascia board under the guttering. I can hear the queen piping from inside the house, and this morning I noticed a few coming and going from outside. I\'d really like them removing, is this something you can help us with?"

I've hear that "just settling in" story so many times. Its amazing how much work the bees can do in such a short time.

tonight's swarming bees were - white tailed bumbles. !!!!!!!!!
