Yesterday and today have been lovely weather here in NI and the bees have been busy bringing in bright yellow pollen by the bucket load. I had previously reduced the entrance on my poly nuc to keep mice out, and was surprised to see a pile of yellow pollen lying in front of the hive. On closer inspection the bees seemed to be having trouble climbing through the reduced entrance without knocking off their pollen.
I have moved the entrance disc back to a full entrance, however you can see the yellow on the reducer itself and the big pile of pollen lying in front of the hive.
Anyone else had a similar experience?
