Studying the hive and their earnestly going about their business. Noticed not just one or two but dozens of them with pale yellow pollen on their baskets but also covering their backs. Just a lot of pollen around? One other thing, i blocked the entrance to two bee space around a week ago as the wasps were out in force and circling the hive. They don't appear happy with it so should i remove it? Thanks everyone.

I second that HB here down by the river . There's a flow from it but they've bringing in pollen mainly as are all hives .

If the colony s strong I've reduced entrances to two inches so they have a bit more space for movement them entrance blocks are to small.

In actual fact it's beige/cream and pollen baskets are light, creamy yellow ;)

Mine must return home via home pride ! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Yes it will indeed . For years now , Balsam has given me a late Honey crop, plus providing my bees with their Winter stores .
Balsam provides nectar until the frost hits it .
It provides nectar later than any native plant except ivy !

Yes from the pictures it’s HB. Once my darlings found it they drew 8 Langstroth super frames of foundation and started to fill it in 3 weeks. Still loads coming in.
Regards reducing the entrance I’ve left mine open (entrance block on wider summer opening) although there are lots of wasps they appear to be taking bees from the landing board rather than entering the hive, reducing the entrance would IMO make it easier for the wasps as the entrance is conjested at best of times.
This was a 5 frame Langstroth Nuc obtained in June and now on brood & 1/2 + super over QX
