Loads of nectar in lots of hives, but nothing ripe enough to take off this week. Next week I'm expecting to be extracting quite a lot though, as I suspect most of my hives will have at least a full super.

I may have to add another super looking at that stack . 2 supers on my demaree hives that are near to being capped at the mo and they are filling the top box .

Some of the rape I was planning to extract next weekend quite a few supers are starting to be capped and if the weather stays with us we should have a few more filled up by next week. This year is looking like I will get a crop of spring wildflower for the first time I do not know what it is but the hives smell wonderful especially at dusk with the sound of the a/c roaring.

The two hives we have on the OSR have been really bringing it in over the weekend when the weather was good - bloody rain today!

Now they will be gobbling it...that's what happened last year....filling/eating...only got a small crop.

My bees on OSR are all on 2 supers, filling and swapping each week. ORS has been in flower here for the last 4 weeks and giving a good crop.......if you like OSR :)
Other apiary sites are on double brood and single supers which they are filling fast.
All looking good after a dodgy start with a few queens failing over winter.

This is when a honey refractometer comes into it's own, takes the guess work out of it.

I hope mine eat the lot well all the stores contaminated with rape.

You should be grateful....we don't have OSR this year. There is some around but too far for my bees. Can you book an extractor from your club? Then you can stop worrying and enjoy seeing the supers fill...which is not happening here. Anyone wanting to extract better bring their supers to me...in case I forget how to do it!

:iagree:
I have also found that the uncapped honey often has less water in it than the capped honey!
