That's a good idea although I wonder if it gets cold whether they will go and get the fondant as it will be cold in the feeder compared with fondant placed on top of the frames. I wouldn't want the bees to starve to death within a few centimetres of everything they need to stay alive.

I've never had a problem, I don't know but they nucs seem to be much warmer and the clusters quite loose. Even when I do the trickle in winter they are spread across the frames.
 
I've got a couple of Paynes and quite like them. I have the rapid feeder on top which works well.

Only gripe is that the parts are a snug fit and have a lip around the joint so you can't twist parts apart, this is a bit of a pain (no pun intended) when the bees glue the tops of the frames to the bottom of the feeder.

I only use the integral side feed for fondant - and may cut it out before long anyway.

Never used the Maisiemore one so can't comment.
