Jim Ryan – The History of Beekeeping in Ireland
2nd December 2013 – 7pm
Venue: The Verbal Arts Centre, Derry-Londonderry
• Derry & District Beekeepers (DDBKA) has commissioned the Verbal Arts Centre to run a Creative Writing Programme which explores the significance of bees throughout the literature
• As part of the Creative Writing Programme (Sweetness & Light) we have secured funds to attract a well known key speaker. We are very pleased to announce that Jim Ryan has accepted our invitation to speak in Derry. Jim has been beekeeping for over 30 years and manages about 40/50 colonies in both National and Commercial hives. He qualified as a lecturer in 1989 and has lectured all over Ireland, in Scotland and England. Jim is particularly interested in the history of Irish beekeeping and has a considerable amount of archival material collected over the years.
• Jim’s presentation; the History of Beekeeping in Ireland will take place at the Verbal Arts Centre, Derry on 2nd December 2013 at 7pm sharp. Doors will be open from 6.30pm onwards. If you are interested in attending this exciting event, it is important that you book your place in advance, no later than 29th November 2013 as places are limited.
