I attracted a swarm to my hive (thanks Poly Hive, lemongrass oil was indeed my friend ) on 15th June. Great excitement from the neighbours as we all stood and watched the swirling mass of bees descend on my garden!
I moved them to their permanent site 3 days later, and have been feeding 1:1 syrup without disturbing the BB, just peeking at activity through the hole in the crown board that's for a bee escape, but which I've covered in mesh and they are busy propolising. (I intend putting a clear CB without holes on when they no longer require feeding).
Had a proper look at them yesterday to find 3 frames of sealed brood, one of young brood and one with eggs, and saw the queen, unmarked, a very calm lady, regally walking across the comb.
I'm a happy lady!
